H for Hypocrites

Hypocrisy: نِفَاق (Nifaq)

There are two types of hypocrites:

1. The first type are non-Muslims who pretend to be Muslims. They fake having iman, and try to fit in the Muslim community so they can cause havoc within them. 

2. The second type are the people who are hypocrites but they themselves do not know it. This is very dangerous because it can either be me or you or the people around us.
 Hypocrisy is a very serious disease, and a Muslim should always look out for the symptoms of this disease within him. And if he spots even the slightest hint of it, he should immediately take action to nip it in the bud.

The signs of a hypocrite are 3:

(آيَةُ الْمُنَافِقِ ثَلَاثٌ إِذَا حَدَّثَ كَذَبَ وَإِذَا وَعَدَ أَخْلَفَ وَإِذَا اؤْتُمِنَ خَانَ (رواه البخاري و مسلم

"The signs of a hypocrite are three: when he speaks, he lies, and when he promises, he breaks his promise, and when he is trusted, he betrays his trust." (Sahih Bukhari 33, Sahih Muslim 59)

May Allah protect us from this disease of hypocrisy, and help us identify its traits in us, and give us the strength to eliminate them from our character. Ameen.
